A mischievous little sprite

Here in my painting world, I sometimes get little "fancies" of what I'd like to paint.
Because I don't paint solely to commission, I can happily indulge myself - and this is what I've done here.

A mischievous sprite, whose background details are made of stylised leaves, trees and bark, ( you might have to look closely) this is Tink

Painted on Saunders Waterford 140lb rough paper, using Winsor & Newton paints, Graphik line painters, Schminke Aqua Bronze "rich gold". Size 15" x 11"

Midnight Picnic

Its Good Friday, so I'd like to wish you all a Happy Easter.

I'd also like to show you a little painting I did, an exercise in negative painting and dry brush work.
There is no drawing to this painting, the trees are brought forward by painting the spaces between them.
The dry brush work is paint loaded on a slightly damp brush and then dragged over the surface of the paper, to give a textured look.

Here is its ---  Midnight Picnic.

Whistle Stop 4

Closer and closer to the end!
This first picture, I have put in the trees and shrubbery behind the train, leaving tiny slivers of white - because no tree is solid.

In the second picture, the dark shadows under the rails goes in - and suddenly the reflection really seems to come to life!
Now there really is only the masking fluid to remove and the letters to paint in. That will be tomorrow's post!
