Eyes and Noses
Now the sea and shore are complete, its time to start on the dogs.
As is my way, eyes, noses and collars first!
That brings the dog to life for me, then its easier to get their little characters right :)

Kindly.......eyes and nose
now I am completely happy with the background, the cushions and the shadows -
I have painted Kindly's eyes and nose and a few grey hairs.
Now she starts to feel alive to me and I talk to her softly, telling her how loved she was and how much her mum loves and misses her.
The connection helps me to paint more feeling into each and every dog I paint.

Gargoyle III
Normally I would paint more than this before I took a photo - but I think these eyes deserve a post all to themselves!

Wilbur - Stage 5
Today I have added the eyes to Wilbur's painting.
Now he starts to come alive!
I try to paint eyes expressively, because in the eyes the owner will see all the love the dog held for them. Its the one part that absolutely must be right.
I paint from my heart when I paint eyes, hopefully that will show.
I'm pleased with how Wilbur's eyes have come out.
