Reports, tennis and attention!
In which we report that Missy had her one month check up and got excellent grades !
No regrowth of the sarcoma and the scar had healed beautifully, with only one tiny bump which may yet go.
My gorgeous Missy.
As we carry on life as usual, Wimbledon tennis makes an appearance - which is my favourite sport to watch, but which has Missy begging for attention!
It also signals the end of art club for summer break this Weds.. will my mind be free of tennis to paint? Don't hold your breath..

Memories of Home
One of my followers invited me to join a painting forum - Painting Friends.
I am so glad I joined, its a very friendly forum.
Recently we had a project thread, in which we were practising lost and found edges.
From two photos supplied by members JT and Peg, we painted pumpkins and an orchid.
Here is my effort at the pumpkins:

Blog lovers, art lovers.
Those who follow my blog regularly will have noticed I have removed the widget for "Blogs I Follow"
That is because I was following nearly 200 blogs and it was taking a most horrendous time to load - thereby slowing down the speed at which you could view my blog.
So instead, I have decided every now and then to share the link of a blog I follow , so that you can go view something different to my style, but still special.
Today I would like to give you the link to:

19 years old, a student, works on scratchboard and just started acrylics.
His style is photorealistic and is truly outstanding.
He will be, I believe, a name you will recognise internationally in the future.

Dawg - the features
Once the background is painted, I like to paint the features of the dog.
That is, the eyes, the nose and mouth.
Once these are done , I know whether or not I will be happy with the painting.
There's usually a moment somewhere when painting these that I catch my breath as I feel the dog come alive.. and then I know the painting will be fine .
That happened with Dawg.. and his features
The colours I use are all non-staining colours - which means that if I decide that some of the darks are too dark, I can lift them out. But I firstly paint them in strong so I get the feel of the piece. Any adjustments can be made when the coat colour of the dog goes in .
The nose of this dog was actually chocolate brown with light brown patches - but I painted him dark brown to begin with, just to make him more solid on the page.
You'll see exactly what I mean on Friday, when you get to see the finished painting .

Its time for another dog painting!
