I decided to remodel my summerhouse, where I paint and write.
Out came the white emulsion paint - and the transformation began.
The theme is Beach...
I painted this little fellow as a fun addition... using Derwent Line Painters
and a little puffin on a baby canvas
the easel & painting corner
the writing & drawing corner
the thinking & reading corner
and a little fun picture.... Paddy pretending to be a neck warmer!
So now, I'm all ready for the painting season to start in earnest in September.
Look forward to seeing you again then.

Fun with Missy, one last time.
In my art folder, I had a drawing of Missy that I had wanted to paint for a little while.
Then she passed away and I couldn't bring myself to paint it.
After visiting the All About Art show in Islington, and falling in love with Derwent Line Painters, I decided to use them to paint Missy's drawing.
So off I went to the summerhouse and took the drawing with me.
My new little companion, Paddy, came too, but for some reason, he left me to it, coming back into the house.
So I had fun with Missy. Just me, her and the paint, in the summerhouse, one last time.
It did me good. The Line Painters are such fun; while I painted, I remembered the fun times the Chief and I had together.
Here we are then,
Fun with Missy
and little Paddy, here he is -
The summerhouse is getting a remodel - to go with this new chapter in our lives. When it's finished, I'll post some pics.
Hubby is almost back to his old self - and I hope to return to regular blogging in September.
For all those who've stuck with me on the blog - and kept us close in thought and prayer - Thank You.

Always on Duty
Hello friends!
Hubby and I have had some time off and have been doing some work in the garden.
You can see what we've been up to HERE
As well as the garden project, I've done a little painting:
this is Always on Duty as it was on my drawing board (where I sometimes paint) in the Summerhouse.
The eagle eyed amongst you will notice I was trying out a different technique to my usual.
and here's how it looks close up:
Always on Duty

Now we're back to normal, with wet weather - I'm looking forward to catching up on all your blogs.

The Alphabet Paintings: L
I've been in the summerhouse today, all doors and windows open and the sun pouring in.
Sitting chewing the fat with hubby, training and cuddling with my dog - and even painting too.
Its been an idyllic Sunday.
And I have here for you to view the next in the Alphabet Series..

Down in the Summerhouse
Now that the summerhouse is finished, that's where I paint. Its a lovely spot, sheltered from the wind, but lots of natural daylight and very warm, thanks to the fact that hubby insulated walls and floors.

Once the doors are open, Missy comes down the garden with me and watches me intently for a while - just in case I should feel the need to play basket ball with her.

Once my kit is spread out and ready, I do play ball with her - afterwards she settles down nicely.

Regardless of what I paint and how well it goes - its a lovely way to spend a few hours.
Wherever you create, I hope you get just as much pleasure from your space!
Tomorrow I will show you the painting that was created on this sunny day .

Sa Belle I
Time for another floral painting - again I am practising the techniques laid out in North Light's Big Book of Painting Watercolor Flowers........
and this one was the first painted in my summerhouse art retreat, so takes its name from that... "Sa Belle" .. which is short for Sa Belle Retraite.. and that's French for "her beautiful retreat" - which it is..

and here is the drawing

Art Studio
So, what was MissyChief supervising in yesterday's post?
The building of my new summerhouse!

No more packing and unpacking on the dining table - yippee!
Hopefully I will enjoy creating some art and viewing the garden in some gorgeous weather this summer.
Do you have a dedicated space for yourself?
