Watching You Leave

I had originally written a story called The Snow Queen and I wanted to make a painting to illustrate it.
The first attempt was Determination, which is a lovely painting, but not quite what I had in my head. So this time, I thought I'd paint a young person, because the snow queen was young  - and yet again I have a painting that isn't the image inside my head - but more one that as I painted, developed in its own way.
It even inspired me to write a new story, called 'Watching you Leave.'

So here's the painting - I hope you enjoy it.

Celebration

Oh, I had fun with this one. It was a line drawing provided in art club. No time to follow the demo and paint it there, because I was busy painting my own picture, I took it home to do my own thing to it

I threw some paint on it, let it swirl then dry. Added some strategic shadows and some ink.

What came out of it?

This very vibrant 'Celebration' .

A painting and a short story

Over on my other blog, I have shared one of my paintings and the short story that the painting inspired.

If you aren't following that blog, you can find it HERE

If you do go over there to take a look, I hope you enjoy both the painting and the short story.
Please feel free to follow on that blog, because it will be the one I share my writing on.

Determination

With this painting, I wanted to make a snow scene with a little girl which I could use with a story I had entitled 'Snow Queen.'
As the painting emerged, it was clear to me that what I was painting was not the image of the girl snow queen I had in mind.
This girl looks far more determined, with definite plans about where she's going and why!

So here, I'm proud to present:

First Frost

It seems forever since I painted and I've missed it like fury!
I have been busy with the novel, you see.

but the call of watercolour was strong so I picked up the brushes again.
I decided to go dark and all experimental with this one.
Its actually split opinion between me and hubby, I like it, he doesn't!

ah well, we don't agree on everything. I enjoyed painting it, that's the main thing :)
