Pencil Portrait

Sharon, who I went to the portrait demo with, posted a picture of her sister on the Painting Friends forum.  I liked the look of the photo and fancied making a portrait.
Every now and then, I feel the need to flex my fingers with pencils - so a pencil portrait it is:

Sisterly Smile

Its not perfect, I can see a couple of improvements I could make, but they're minor and I'm reasonably happy with the overall effect :)

  2. Thanks, Judy.. I'm glad you think its amazing.
Always hyper - critical, I can see a couple of improvements. But then, I think artists are generally more critical of themselves :) I should lighten up, maybe

  9. Nose ... check, eyes ... check ... sorry two eyes .. check ... yep, all there. Seriously though Pat, what could possibly be wrong with this super portrait drawing which looks in proportion and, I'm sure, a very good likeness :)

  10. Thanks, Sadami.
oh I do enjoy it, I can just see a couple of minor things.. and I have always been critical of myself - but much better, recently :) xx

    Thanks, Prabal xx
Thank you too, Elsbeth :) xx

What did I see to enhance, Michael? The shadow on the far cheek could be lightened a little - its a touch heavy. And the near cheek I could have softened the part where it dimples into the smile :)
I did say they were minor, and I was dithering to change or not.. and as I didn't - maybe they weren't that important at all :) xx

  28. Thank you so much, everyone. *hugs*
I took it to art club last night and the tutor thought it was pretty good. He said he doesn't often see me use pencils, but when I do, the result is champion :)
So, of course, I started another one, which I hope to finish soon xx

  33. Pat, I found it spectacular, we have to exercise all the techniques, the graphite is very good for us to view the contrast and brightness.
    Congratulations!
