Morning everyone! Been a little busy round here, so I've fallen behind with reading blogs! Hope to catch up soon.
In the meantime, onwards with the alphabet paintings.
I'm finding a lot of inspiration in things around me.. this was a photo taken of my Hibiscus "Bluebird" from my garden.
Congratulations, Pat! Beautiful flowers and excellent play between the light and shadow. White colour is my watercolour "daemon". I love and admire works of other artists, but I don't have a courage to paint white flowers. Best wishes. :)
Thanks everyone :) I think I've caught up with all your blogs now *phew* I loved painting this hibiscus, its such a beautiful flower. Very pleased to read you all enjoyed viewing it. xx
Well done, Pat. I especially like the subtle shadows on the petals. White flowers are always a challenge in watercolor, but you have done a fantastic job.
Thanks, Christiane, Ann and Penny. Have to say the flowers are not white, but a pale lavender blue - hence the name "Bluebird" :) Glad you like them, though :) xx
Hi Pat, thanks for commenting on my blog. Love this idea of painting the alphabet. Hibiscus is a toughy to paint, you did well. But seriously.... what kind of doggy is that?? I read he was a rescue, awesome, but what breed or breeds? He is just so darn cute!
Thanks Tonya, Cathy and Elsbeth. Glad you all like it :) xx
Cathy - Missy is a jack russell terrier - of the parson variety. She is indeed a rescue - and came from Battersea, who's link is on the right. She even has her own slot on there under "Dogs - Happy Endings"
I like this. That wet in wet underwash is superb. And how you have done negetive paintings after that to bring out the flower is so cool.
