Here in this stage, I have painted the background .
All I am aiming for here is a suggestion of grass and sky, and a little shadow.
Hopefully I have that!

ReplyDeleteI suppose we all work differently Frank, it makes art interesting. :)
ReplyDeleteFor me, I always do the background first - mainly because if I did the dog first and perfectly, I'd be petrified of ruining it with a poor background !
A subtle one like I have can be thrown further back by the painting, or made bolder should the finished dog warrant it.
I love the way the background is very subtle - makes Roxy stand out so much more, whilst still giving an impression of the situation the painting is taken from. Excellent!
