The Patchwork Dog

Here, using my own sweet jack russell terrier as a model, is a child's toy...a patchwork dog.
I hope you like him.

Bill

Good morning all.
Today's painting is rather special to me.

Its a portrait of Bill, a jack russell - and he was painted for the winner of an auction, that was held to benefit South East Dog Rescue.

So the rescue benefits and Bill's owner, who has seen the portrait, has a gorgeous painting (her words!) to enjoy.

That's my good news story - hope you enjoy it too!

The Night Before Christmas

Did I ever tell you how fortunate I am to know some wonderful dogs and their owners?
Kendi is another jack russell who has beaten cancer, just like my Missy.
I have a very soft spot for her - even though her mom Michelle does dress her up!

Of course, if she hadn't, I could never have painted this picture :)
and between you and I, Kendi enjoys it! Soppy dog ...

Painted, Plastered and again, Painted

What's been going on here recently?

I painted this little sketch as a birthday present for someone :)

Whose birthday? The man who was plastering our hallway and up the staircase.
He did a wonderful job, the plaster is so smooth - its wonderful to see a craftsman at work. It was his birthday while he was here working, he owns four jack russells, so I painted this for him. Needless to say, he loved it :)

Here's a photo of his plaster work up the staircase. It will take a week to dry and then we can paint it white. Its going to be stunning.

On the good days, I've been outside painting the finished garage, which he'd rendered for us also.

The journey with working on the house is coming to an end.
Time to stand and stare, as a famous poet once said :)

Desi

here he is - the finished Desi.

I can only hope this humble painting can bring as much comfort to Barbi, as she has brought to so many dogs in need.

It will be added to my permanent gallery site, Pat Elliott Paintings, as a lasting tribute.

Desi IV

I loved Desi's ears - so expressive, so adorable.
They were next to be painted, along with a little shadow.

Tomorrow you will see the finished painting.

Desi III

Desi was a tricolour jack.
That means he had white, black and tan colouring.
A beautiful boy.

For the painters amongst my followers, the tan is burnt sienna.

Desi II

Eyes and nose. You knew that's where I'd start, didn't you?

Did you know though, that each time I paint a dog, I sing to them softly?
My painting is so much better when I feel a connection .

This time I was singing to Desi.. " the charm about you, will carry me through.. to Heaven. I'm in Heaven"

A happy song for a happy little dog..

The stages of Desi

By now you all know how much I love dogs. My particular fondness in the terrier line is the russell (parson or jack).

Today I begin a new jack painting, that of darling Desi, who recently passed away.
His mom, Barbi, is a very special lady, always out rescuing dogs, giving them life and hope, and finding them new homes. She is another I know through the good offices of Bill Tomei (may he rest in peace).

So to paint her own Desi , in the hope of giving her some comfort, is a real honour. This is on behalf of all the dogs who owe Barbi their lives .
Thank you.

First, the pencil drawing

and then the sky...

Tidy Up - and Great News!

Am I tidying up my new summerhouse?

Nope.

Though little Missy surely wishes I needed to.. because she was the object of my tidying session.

My little girl is very fearful of the groomers, so we have taught her to be reasonably comfortable about us doing the necessary!

And here is the tidied up version of darling Missy!

The Great News:

Annual check: Missy behaved perfectly (that's routine now, but the vet always remarks on it) not a squeak for the jab..put on 0.2lb and NO sign of cancer regrowth.

Vet "hard to believe she's 12 and a half, she's so sparky" :)

While you were Sleeping

I took this precious photo of our sweet rescue girl, Missy - all snuggled up to her dad!

Jack Russells .. the facts

Jack Russells are full of energy and always on the go..... FACT.

When jacks take a break, they like comfort and luxury... FACT

Hubby's birthday present was a digital slr... so he took these pics and I swiftly pinched them for my blog.

Go Milo!

Go Milo!

This painting is a tribute to Milo the jack russell, who sadly passed away, yesterday.

Milo chasing Shady to snatch the toy is the happy memory his mum will keep - of a fun loving, happy tearaway !
