Pears Four

Now I'm removing the masking fluid.
This is where I found out using a powerful sprayer is not the best idea .
It took almost half of an eraser to remove it, as you can see!

I don't use my fingers to remove making fluid - after the time I got a blister doing just that!

Here's the painting after the mask was removed


and here it is when I have enhanced the lower half to look like marble and painted a first pale wash over the pears.

All I have to do after this stage is paint one more wash on the pears, and she's done.
You'll see the finished painting tomorrow.

Miss Daisy progresses

Being happy with the background, I have been laying down a few washes on Miss Daisy.


So far, so good. Well, that's what I think - what do you think?

Gargoyle IV

I took a while to decide whether the gargoyle would be standing on a wooden breaker or on a column of stone - eventually I decided wood for the support, stone for the gargoyle.
So here's the first set of washes on the wooden breaker..

The background washes are now completely finished.
Onwards towards painting the penguins, stones and foreground washes.

Not only did I paint the Duchess Remy, but I also made a portrait of the younger Remy.

Eyes and nose

Four Square Otter

I am sometimes asked if I paint in anything other than watercolour.
The answer is usually no - other mediums aggravate my asthma.

But with this otter I did use a few different techniques.
The first is in coloured pencil, the second, pen and wash, the third ink only and the fourth a true watercolour.

It is interesting to see which people get drawn to, as I have all four on display, in a square. Luckily for them I have absolutely no psychology training, else they could be revealing untold mysteries about themselves!
