at the farmer's market

At the farmer's market we went to were all sorts of delicious foods, straight from the farm.
Most were edible, but this little gourd wasn't.
I brought him home because he looked so pretty (in an ugly kind of way)  and a painting was in the offing!

Here's the drawing

and here's the sky painted in

Christmas is coming...

and I thought - cards! Why not try and paint some for Christmas?
So I ordered a pack of 10, not because of that few friends, but because I wasn't sure how well my small paintings would come out.
These cards were only 5x3 inches, you see!

Christmas cards should have some religious theme - after all, its the reason for the season, yes?

So on with the painting.. the barn, the crib, the infant Jesus, the Holy Family, the animals, a feed trough, three kings, a star, a starry night sky with aurora effects and shrubbery in the landscape. Everything but the kitchen sink!

I stepped back from the painting and laughed - it looks to me as if a complete novice has painted it! It is not my best!
So I show it to you, my blogging friends, just so you know, some days, the painting doesn't quite come out on paper as you had it in your head!

Missy's Road to Art

I think I will travel on the Orbital today

it leads to the Art Studio

and here it is!
Here's what I've been working on
though sometimes I stare at the birds in the tree

You didn't believe me? But I'm not in my bed!

Ok, I confess, mummy's chair was so comfy!

Simple things

The simplicity of a loaf of bread, two slices cut from it - just called out to be painted.
Yet again, I am trying this in the new brushstroke style.
Here's the drawing

Bread was such a staple when I was younger - I always loved to eat the crusts - or the heel, as the Irish side of my family would call it.
Nowadays we are a little more health conscious and the white crusty loaf is a thing consigned to memory.
Still makes  a lovely subject, though :)

Johnny Come Lately

All the brushstrokes are in, and a little spatter too!
Sometimes a girl wants to be extra creative!

I hope you enjoy this painting:
