Step Two

In the second stage, the sky is painted.
The whole are is wetted, then french ultramarine is washed in with bold strokes.
The pale green in the lower section will form a background field to the bolder foreground yet to be added.

Ben - part three

The sky is now painted in - the next step will be painting Ben - which will all be done in one go and not in stages.

This is because he's not a portrait close up, so I shan't be stopping between the small washes.

Dog Painting

Its time for another dog painting!

This one is a very special Dawg - and you can read all about him if you click here.

I had the lady send me some larger photos and tell me exactly what his colouring was - because if you viewed the link , you 'll see he looks different in each photo!

And so, we start -

the pencil outline drawing first

and then the background of sky

new painting stage II

The sky goes in - a lovely broad sweep of colour, suggesting a clear day with a little cloud.

Clouds are fascinating - there are many different types, from cirrus to cumulus to stratus. To read about them, click here .

What always fascinated me was that when you start to really look, clouds aren't all white .... they have many different colours in them.
